Beyond Vision (BV)-Sistemas Móveis Autónomos de Realidade Aumentada, S.A. is a tech company focused on developing collaborative autonomous systems.[1]
The company has developed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that integrate communication systems, including Herelink, LoRa, 4G, and 5G, as well as artificial intelligence algorithms that enable autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance, and target tracking.
The company has also developed the beXStream platform, a software that combines AI systems with conventional automation to manage field assets.
Based in Lisbon, specifically in Alverca do Ribatejo, with additional offices in Porto and Aveiro, Beyond Vision has earned several grants and awards, including funding from EU initiatives like Horizon 2020, which have supported its R&D efforts.
Beyond Vision has been accredited by the Portuguese Ministry of Defense in its sector to supply UAVs. In 2025, the company signed a contract with the U.S. firm Paladin to supply 300 drones and plans to open a factory in the U.S. in 2027.[2][3][4][5]
History
Beyond Vision was founded in August 2013 in Portugal by a team of electrical and computer engineering experts from the PDM Group.[6] Over the years, the company has developed applications in defense and security, infrastructure inspection, pipelines and power lines, surveillance, and fire prevention, among others.[7][8][9][10][11]
In 2022, the company launched the BVT516, a fixed-wing VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) drone specifically designed for long-range surveillance and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) missions. In 2024, the BVQ418 was unveiled as a lightweight, portable Class 3 quadcopter, making its debut with a live demonstration at the Farnborough International Airshow.
In 2025, the company added the BVQ407 to its lineup, a FPV (First-Person View) drone designed for military operations. Rounding out the lineup is beXStream, a cloud-based software platform for remote and autonomous management of drone fleets. All drones are designed in accordance with NATO guidelines and incorporate artificial intelligence technology that enables autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance, and target tracking.[12]
In 2026, Beyond Vision launched new versions of the BVT516 and BVQ418 drones, which were announced during the World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia. Beyond Vision also integrates Intelic BASE[13], a secure e-commerce platform founded by Intelic, a Dutch startup specializing in defense technology, which brings together Europe’s unmanned systems companies.
