Blueground is a global real estate technology company founded in 2013 by CEO Alex Chatzieleftheriou. Originally established in Athens, Greece, Blueground has expanded to more than 100 cities worldwide including New York City, Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.[1][2]
History
Founded in 2013 by Alex Chatzieleftheriou, Blueground was created as a housing solution to the difficulties he faced looking for accommodation as a business consultant.
Since its inception, Blueground raised $20 million in Series B funding led by WestCap Investment Partners and Prime Ventures to support international expansion in 2019.[3] The company raised an additional $50 million in Series C funding in 2020.[4]
In March 2024, the company announced it had raised $45 million in a Series D funding round led by Susquehanna Private Equity Investments with participation from WestCap. (Reference removed due to reliability concerns)
Operations
As of 2025, the company operates 20,000 apartments in more than 100 cities worldwide. Blueground leases apartments from landlords, furnishes them, and rents them to tenants. The typical stay for Blueground guests is one month or longer.
Business model and technology
People can book Blueground furnished apartments online and use the Blueground App for property management, tenant onboarding, and customer service.[5]
Sustainability
Blueground has announced commitments to sustainability, offering eco-friendly apartments in select cities to lower their carbon footprint.[6][7]
