Body Renew Alaska is a health club chain based in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. The company was founded in 2007 and operates fitness facilities in the Anchorage metropolitan area.[1]

History

Body Renew was founded by Brian Horschel and opened its first location on July 7, 2007, in South Anchorage, in a 3,000 square feet (280 m2) facility on Old Seward Highway.[2]

The company subsequently expanded to additional Alaska locations, including facilities in Wasilla, Eagle River, and Midtown Anchorage.[2] At its peak, the company also operated locations in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Virginia through the Body Renew Fitness licensing model.[2][3]

The company's largest facility, a 25,124 square feet (2,334.1 m2) building near the original South Anchorage location, was completed circa 2015.[2]

In 2025, the company underwent a change in ownership and management.[1] As of 2026, Body Renew Alaska operates two locations in Anchorage — South Anchorage and East Anchorage.[4]

Services

Body Renew Alaska provides gym facilities with 24-hour access, personal training, group fitness classes, and nutrition coaching.[4]

Recognition

Body Renew was listed among the winners of the 2019 Best of Alaska Business Awards in the gym category, a reader-voted program published annually by Alaska Business Magazine.[5] The company appeared in the same awards program in 2020.[6]

In June 2026, Alaska Business Magazine published a feature article on Body Renew, covering the company's new leadership and direction.[1]

Community involvement

In 2025, Body Renew Alaska was listed as a partner organization in the Early Educator Health and Wellness: Building Resilience Grant program, administered by thread Alaska in partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage. The program provided participating educators with a year-long gym membership including coaching and 24-hour facility access.[7]
