brainstrust is a United Kingdom based charity, founded on the Isle of Wight, that supports those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, including patients, caregivers and their families. The organisation has an office in Leeds, West Yorkshire, but delivers much of its support remotely across the UK, alongside the occasional in-person event. Their work largely focuses on providing psychosocial support and helping people navigate the wider impact of a brain tumour diagnosis outside of a clinical setting.^{[1] [2]}

brainstrust was founded in 2006 by Helen Bulbeck and her husband Peter Bulbeck, after Helen’s daughter, Meg, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour at 19 years old. Their experience highlighted the limited support available to patients and families affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, particularly beyond clinical care, which led them to establish the charity. ^[3]

brainstrust also runs the Brain Tumour Hub, a searchable digital database bringing together information on support services, clinical trials and resources available across the UK.^[5]

The organisation is involved in research-related work through initiatives such as the Patient Research Involvement MovEment (PRIME), connecting patients and carers affected by a brain tumour diagnosis with researchers in order to inform the design of clinical studies.
