Brian Stover is a businessman[1] and American politician[2] located in the city of Dallas, Georgia.[3] He is a former member of the Paulding County Commissioner Board, serving from Ward 4. Stover was elected to the Commissioners Board for two terms in 2018[4] and 2022[5] until he dropped out to run for Commissioner Chair in 2024[6][7], where he lost. Stover ran into mild controversy[8] regarding his simultaneous tenure as a businessman and local politician.[9] He ran for the special election in 2026 for Georgia's 14th Congressional District after Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene dropped out[10] where he campaigned on affordability, tax reduction[11], and supporting law enforcement.[12] Stover placed 4th[13] overall in the special election race. He has qualified and is running for Georgia's Republican primary for the general election on May 19, 2026.

Stover runs a multitude of businesses across Paulding County and the Metro-Atlanta area, including landfill and waste-management companies. Stover simultaneously runs his businesses alongside his political jobs.

In 2018, Brian Stover ran for Ward 4 of the Paulding County Commissioners Board. He was nominated to be the Republican front-runner where he defeated Republican incumbent Tony Crowe with a landslide margin of 64%. He sought re-election in 2022 where he defeated Democratic candidate Sheila Alexander and won a second term. He resigned from his position in 2024 from his position to run for County Commissioner where he lost in the Republican primary against Tim Estes. On December 21, 2025, Stover announced his campaign to replace former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for Georgia's 14th congressional district. On March 10, 2026, Stover lost the bid for the runoff for the special election to Republican Clay Fuller and Democrat Shawn Harris. He placed 4th with 4.68%, where he was behind former State Sen. Colton Moore. Stover qualified for the general election primary on March 2nd. The primary election will take place on May 19, 2026.

Controversy

Stover's conflict of interest amongst some people stems from his combined tenure as a businessman and politician. Some residents of Paulding County stated that Stover attempted to benefit his landfill business using his power as Commissioner. Stover requested a special use permit to construct a facility on his 180-acre landfill property for 24-hour temporary trash storage. Fears of noise pollution and increased traffic via garbage trucks led to backlash and eventual vote of declination by the City Council of Dallas. Stover argued the opposite, stating that traffic would decrease and that an odor would not arise, due to the planned placement of deodorizers and stating that trash would not stay for more than 24 hours due to local law.
