BriefTube is a SaaS web application that automatically monitors YouTube channels and generates an audio summary for each new video published. The service delivers these summaries to Telegram, Discord, Slack, or to any podcast application via a private RSS feed.
How it works
BriefTube monitors the RSS feeds of subscribed YouTube channels every five minutes. When a new video is detected, the service automatically extracts the video transcript, generates a summary using artificial intelligence powered by Google Gemini, then converts the summary into an audio file using Microsoft Edge Neural TTS. The entire process typically completes within thirty minutes of a video being published.
Summaries are accessible from a web dashboard, via a private podcast RSS feed compatible with standard podcast applications (Overcast, Pocket Casts, Apple Podcasts), or delivered directly to the user via Telegram, Discord, or Slack.
Features
- Languages: 55 languages are supported, including English, French,
Spanish, German, Japanese, and Arabic. The video language is detected automatically.
- Transcript sources: transcripts are extracted primarily from the
YouTube API. When subtitles are unavailable, the service uses alternative services or transcription via Whisper by OpenAI.
- Voices: Pro users can choose from multiple neural voices per language.
Pricing
BriefTube offers two plans:
- Free: monitoring of up to five YouTube channels, AI audio summaries,
access to the web dashboard and private podcast RSS feed, and integrations with Telegram, Discord, and Slack.
- Pro: unlimited channels, priority processing, custom voice selection,
no branding, and early access to new features. Price: $9 USD per month, with a 30-day free trial.
Technology
The service is built on the following technologies:
- AI summarization: Google Gemini
- Voice synthesis: Microsoft Edge Neural TTS
- Infrastructure: Vercel (web interface), dedicated server for processing
- Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL)
- Authentication: Google OAuth via Supabase Auth
