Celebrity Puzzling is a British television game show in which teams of celebrities compete in logic-based, visual, and word puzzles. The programme airs on Channel 5 and is hosted by Jeremy Vine, with regular team captains Carol Vorderman and Sally Lindsay. It has been on air since 23 June 2025.

The series is a celebrity spin-off of the civilian quiz format Puzzling, which aired for one series in 2023, and places emphasis on lateral thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving rather than traditional general knowledge. Since its launch in 2025, Celebrity Puzzling has been positioned as part of Channel 5’s early-evening unscripted entertainment slate.

The original non-celebrity version of Puzzling debuted on Channel 5 in 2023, featuring members of the public solving structured logic and word puzzles. Following the performance of the civilian format, Channel 5 commissioned a celebrity edition intended to broaden the show’s appeal and allow for a lighter, personality-driven presentation.

The celebrity version was developed with a faster pace and increased emphasis on humour and interaction between contestants, while retaining the core puzzle mechanics of the original programme. Jeremy Vine was selected as host due to his prior experience with quiz and factual entertainment formats, while Carol Vorderman and Sally Lindsay were appointed as permanent team captains to provide continuity across episodes.

Each episode of Celebrity Puzzling features two teams, each led by one of the regular team captains and joined by rotating celebrity guests. Across the programme, teams compete in a sequence of puzzle-based rounds designed to test a range of cognitive skills.

Although the exact rounds may vary between episodes, typical challenges include:

• Word and letter puzzles
• Anagram and word-fragment completion
• Visual logic and pattern-recognition tasks
• Code-breaking and cipher puzzles
• Deductive reasoning and sequencing challenges
• Timed rounds emphasising speed and accuracy

Vine introduces each round and oversees scoring. Points are awarded for correct answers, with some rounds awarding bonus points for faster completion. At the end of the episode, the team with the highest score is declared the winner. There is no cash prize or carry-over scoring between episodes.

Celebrity Puzzling is produced by Potato, a division of ITV Studios, in association with Wheelhouse Studios.

Executive producers include Martin Scott and Michael Mannes for Potato, and Glenn Hugill for Wheelhouse Studios. The programme was commissioned by Channel 5 as part of an expanded focus on quiz-led and factual entertainment programming.

Filming takes place at Enfys Studios in Cardiff, Wales, with production support from Creative Wales. Episodes are recorded in studio with a live audience.

The series is broadcast on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, primarily in an early-evening weekday slot at approximately 7pm. Episodes are also made available via Channel 5’s on-demand platform following transmission.

The first series of Celebrity Puzzling consisted of eight episodes, broadcast across consecutive weekdays beginning on 23 June 2025. The series established the core format, with Jeremy Vine as host and Carol Vorderman and Sally Lindsay as team captains.

A second series began on 23 February 2026 and comprises a 50-episode run. The expanded order marked a significant increase in episode volume and positioned the programme as a longer-term fixture within Channel 5’s schedule. The second series retained the same format, host, and team captains.
