Bishop Climate Wiseman, also known as Prophet Climate Wiseman, Dr Climate Wiseman, Dr C. Wiseman, Bishop Climate Irungu and Climate Irungu Wiseman, is a British-based Christian minister, author and publisher associated with Bishop Climate Ministries and Kingdom Church in Camberwell, south London. News reports have described him as the head of the Kingdom Church in Camberwell.[1]

Wiseman has published religious, devotional, deliverance, personal development, business and Christian-themed books under several author names. Booksellers including Amazon and Waterstones list titles under the names Prophet Climate Wiseman, Bishop Climate Irungu, Dr Climate Wiseman and Dr C. Wiseman.[2][3][4]

Wiseman has also been the subject of legal and regulatory proceedings in the United Kingdom relating to the sale of products during the Covid-19 pandemic. In December 2022, he was convicted of fraud at Inner London Crown Court, and in November 2023 the Court of Appeal dismissed his challenge against the conviction.[5] In January 2024, the Charity Commission concluded an inquiry into The Kingdom Church GB and disqualified Wiseman from being a charity trustee or holding a senior charity management position for 15 years.[6]

Wiseman has published numerous religious, devotional, deliverance and personal development books under the names Prophet Climate Wiseman, Bishop Climate Wiseman, Bishop Climate Irungu, Dr Climate Wiseman and Dr C. Wiseman. Amazon lists author pages for Prophet Climate Wiseman and Bishop Climate Irungu, and individual Amazon listings also appear under Dr Climate Wiseman and Dr C. Wiseman.[2][3][9][10]

His published works include titles in the 30 Day Devotionals series. Amazon.co.uk lists 30 Days to Overcome The Lack of Enthusiasm as part of the 30 Day Devotionals series, and Amazon Kindle Store listings include other numbered titles in the series, including 30 Days To Overcome Lack Of Discipline.[2][11]

Waterstones also lists multiple books by Prophet Climate Wiseman, including titles in the 30 Day Devotionals series such as 30 Days to Overcome Toxic Thinking, 30 Days To Overcome The Fear Of Poverty, 30 Days To Overcome Family Conflict, 30 Days To Overcome The Spirit Of Grief, 30 Days to Overcome the Fear of Change, 30 Days To Overcome The Fear Of Rejection, and 30 Days to Unlock the Power of Praying in Tongues.[4]

His deliverance-related titles include The Altered Life: Recognising & Reversing Spiritual Problems, listed by Waterstones as part of a deliverance series.[4] Amazon listings under Prophet Climate Wiseman also include deliverance-related works such as How To Be Delivered From The Spirit of Self-Doubt.[12]

Books under the name Dr C. Wiseman include business, wealth and Christian-themed titles. Amazon lists 12 Ancient Wealth Principles Rooted in Biblical Wisdom under Dr C. Wiseman.[10]

Business and technology projects

In addition to ministry and publishing, Wiseman has been associated with online publishing and digital platform projects. Wonderful Books lists books under the name Dr Climate Wiseman and presents itself as an online books platform.[13] Other official websites connected with his public work include Bishop Climate Ministries and Kingdom Deliverance Centre Uganda.[14][15]

Covid-19 fraud case

In August and September 2021, Wiseman appeared in court in relation to allegations that he had sold “plague protection kits” as a purported cure or protection against Covid-19.[16][1] The Evening Standard reported that prosecutors alleged the products were marketed as being able to “treat, prevent, protect against or cure” coronavirus.[1]

On 8 December 2022, Wiseman was found guilty of fraud at Inner London Crown Court. The Evening Standard reported that he had sold “plague protection oil” for £91 as a bogus cure for Covid-19.[17] ITV News London later reported that Wiseman stood by the oil, describing it as having the “power of God”.[18]

In November 2023, the Court of Appeal dismissed Wiseman's challenge against his conviction. The court’s judgment is reported as Climate Wiseman -v- Rex, with the neutral citation [2023] EWCA Crim 1363.[5] The Evening Standard reported that the Court of Appeal said it was “not persuaded that the conviction was unsafe”.[19]

Charity Commission inquiry

The Charity Commission opened a statutory inquiry into The Kingdom Church GB in August 2020. In January 2024, the Commission concluded the inquiry and announced that the charity had been ordered to shut down.[6] The Commission said its inquiry found significant governance failures, including poor financial controls, failure to manage conflicts of interest, and the use of charity-linked platforms in connection with Wiseman's private business interests.[20]

The Commission disqualified Wiseman from being a charity trustee or holding a senior management position in a charity for 15 years.[6] The Independent reported that the Charity Commission said The Kingdom Church GB should be wound up and removed from the charity register.[21]
