Cloud Chamber are a modern classical musical duo consisting of pianist Gavin Greenaway and cellist Caroline Dale. The ensemble was formed to present original compositions and arrangements for piano and cello, stepping into the spotlight after decades of collaborative work on film scores [1][2]and theatrical productions including the Emmy award wining illuminations:Reflections of Earth[3]
Overview
Cloud Chamber takes its name from the scientific instrument that visualises subatomic particles through vapour trails. The name is metaphorically apt for a duo whose professional careers have long been defined by "luminous paths through other people's musical worlds," as described by the ensemble's official materials. Between them, Greenaway and Dale have performed on more than 300 film scores and collaborated with leading film composers including Hans Zimmer,[4] John Powell[5] and John Williams[6] Cloud Chamber marks their first formal collaboration as a principal performance ensemble.

Gavin Greenaway (Piano)
Gavin Greenaway (born 1964) is an Emmy award-winning composer and conductor known for his extensive work in film and orchestral music. He has conducted scores for over 200 films across multiple genres, including blockbuster franchises (How to Train Your Dragon, Wicked, Interstellar) and acclaimed dramas (Gladiator). His conducting work has spanned collaborations with composers Hans Zimmer, John Powell, and other leading orchestral artists. Beyond conducting, Greenaway has composed original music for theatre, television, and film, including scores for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and songs with singer Bryan Adams. He has released two solo albums of his own piano music: Il Falco Bianco (2016) and contributions to collaborative projects.
Caroline Dale (Cello)
Caroline Dale (born 1965) is a British cellist with a distinguished career spanning classical, orchestral, and popular music. She is principal cellist for the English Chamber Orchestra and London Metropolitan Orchestra. As a performer, she has worked with the Nigel Kennedy Quartet, David Gilmour, David Gray, and Sinéad O'Connor, among others. Dale has performed as concerto soloist with major orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Her film work includes featured solo roles on soundtracks for Atonement, Hilary and Jackie, and Truly, Madly, Deeply. She released the solo album Such Sweet Thunder in 2002, combining classical repertoire with her own compositions.
