Colored Brain Communication Inventory (CBCI), also spelled Coloured Brain Communication Inventory, is a communication profiling instrument associated with Directive Communication psychology and developed by Arthur F. Carmazzi.[1][2][3] The model classifies communication and information-processing preferences into four colour-coded categories: green, red, purple, and blue. In published descriptions, CBCI is presented as a measure of brain processing and communication style rather than as a conventional personality test.[4]

The model is presented as a framework for understanding how individuals seek clarity when faced with uncertainty, a process Carmazzi refers to as Ambiguity Relief. In this framework, communication problems are described as arising when people use different clarity-seeking processes to gather information, structure meaning, make decisions, and take action.[5][6]

The Colored Brain model has been discussed in studies on education, foreign-language learning, blended learning, workplace communication, and group interaction.[7][8][9][4]
