Cypris is an American software company that develops software for innovation intelligence, technology scouting, and research and development. The company's platform aggregates data from patents, scientific literature, grants, chemical databases, market intelligence sources, and corporate records to support research, competitive intelligence, and technology discovery activities.[1]
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in New York City, Cypris provides software and research tools for corporate R&D teams, intellectual property professionals and innovation organizations. The platform combines data aggregation, semantic search, and artificial intelligence technologies to assist users in identifying emerging technologies, monitoring competitors, and evaluating innovation opportunities.[2]
History
Cypris was founded in 2021 by Steve Hafif as a platform focused on technology scouting and innovation research.[3] According to the company's leadership, the business originated from efforts to build a patent-focused marketplace before expanding into a broader R&D intelligence platform.[4]
The company developed tools that combined patent information with scientific publications, market intelligence, startup data, and other technical sources. By 2024, Cypris reported that its platform analyzed more than 500 million data points across multiple innovation-related datasets.[5]
In July 2024, Cypris announced a $5.3 million Series A funding round led by Vocap Partners, with participation from Activate Venture Partners and BlueTree Capital. The company stated that the funding would support product development and expansion of its research platform.[6]
In June 2026, Cypris launched Agentic Monitoring, a feature designed to continuously monitor patents, scientific literature, regulatory activity, grants, mergers and acquisitions, and other innovation-related information sources.[7]
