Dan Lyons is a British musician, singer-songwriter and drummer, best known as an original member of the English rock band Fat White Family. He later pursued a solo career and has collaborated with artists and groups including The Brian Jonestown Massacre, La Femme and Mozart Estate.

Career

Fat White Family

Dan Lyons was a founding member and drummer of the South London rock band Fat White Family, formed in the early 2010s. The band became known for its provocative live performances and blend of garage rock, post-punk and psychedelic rock.[1]

Lyons appeared with the band at the 2014 NME Awards, where Fat White Family won the Philip Hall Radar Award.[2][3]

Solo career

Following his departure from Fat White Family, Lyons began pursuing a solo career as a singer-songwriter and recording artist.

In 2019, he released the EP Special People through Futureproof Records.[4]

His debut studio album, SubSuburbia, was released in 2020 via Futureproof Records.[5][6]

The album received positive reviews from British music press. Reviewing the album for Clash, Robin Murray described it as “a treasure trove of clever lyrics and immersive imagery”.[7]

Lyons was also interviewed alongside artist Tim Noble by Hero Magazine.[8]

Collaborations

In 2023, Lyons performed with the American psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He is listed among the group's former members on publicly available line-up records.[9]

Lyons contributed vocals and instrumentation to Rock Machine (2024), an album by the French psychedelic rock band La Femme.[10][11]

Since 2025, Lyons has been listed as a member of the British indie pop group Mozart Estate.[12]
