Danny Calvert is an American stage actor and singer known for his work in musical theatre, concert performance, and themed entertainment. He appeared Off-Broadway in Altar Boyz, earning critical praise from The New York Times for his "laudable" performance, and starred in the Los Angeles production of Zanna, Don't!, for which he won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Lead Performance. Calvert has also performed with Disney Cruise Line in The Golden Mickeys, toured and recorded with The Broadway Boys and The Jersey Tenors, and released solo music including the album This Beautiful Life. He performed the song "Kiss the Air" on Scott Alan’s album Dreaming Wide Awake: The Music of Scott Alan, which features performances by Broadway artists including Shoshana Bean, Cheyenne Jackson, and Jonathan Groff.

Career

Calvert appeared Off-Broadway in Altar Boyz, where The New York Times described his performance as "laudable".[1] He also appeared in regional productions of the show, including performances in Long Beach in 2007.[2]

Calvert starred in the Los Angeles premiere of Zanna, Don't! with West Coast Ensemble Theatre at the Lyric-Hyperion Theatre. Directed by Nick DeGruccio, the production received multiple nominations from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, with Calvert winning the award for Best Lead Performance.[3][4][5][6][7]

Calvert was part of the original cast of the Disney Cruise Line stage revue The Golden Mickeys directed by Tony-Award Winner Diane Paulus, which debuted aboard the Disney Wonder and later on the Disney Dream.[citation needed]

Calvert has performed in concert appearances, including as a guest artist with EGOTS Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and fellow performer, Shoshana Bean.[8][9]

He was an original member of the touring ensemble The Broadway Boys, performing concerts of Broadway and popular music. Additionally, Calvert performed with the crossover vocal group The Jersey Tenors, which blends pop and operatic styles.[10][11]

Calvert has released original music under the name Calvert, including the album This Beautiful Life.[12] He also performed the song "Kiss the Air" on Scott Alan’s album Dreaming Wide Awake: The Music of Scott Alan, which features performances by Broadway artists including Shoshana Bean, Cheyenne Jackson, and Jonathan Groff.[13]

He has also produced theme park and live entertainment productions, including the Six Flags Holiday Spectacular, recognized by IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions).[14]
