Docutain, a mobile app, is a PDF scanner app for iOS and Android that includes document management features. It is available worldwide for free download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The developer is a Germany-based software company named INFOSOFT Informations- und Dokumentationssysteme GmbH.^[1]

Docutain was first published in 2018.^[2] Since then, the app has become globally available and is translated in 21 languages.^[3]

In 2019, Docutain received it’s first award as “best scanning app 2019” from Smartphone Magazine.^[4] Besides scanning and editing options, Docutain also partnered with multibanking-apps such as Outbank^[5] to enable that scanned invoices can directly be paid through an interface between the scanner app and the multibanking-app.^[6]

Since 2023, Docutain’s main features (document scanning, barcode scanning, OCR text recognition, data extraction and photo payment) are offered as separate Docutain SDK^[7] packages for business clients to integrate into their own apps.^[8]
