In 2025, Emergence launched CRAFT (Create, Remember, Assemble, Fine-tune, Trust), a natural-language enterprise automation platform designed to automate data pipelines and workflow orchestration using AI agents, allowing users to create enterprise automations using plain English prompts rather than traditional programming methods. Emergence has since released an updated version of the platform built on its neuroformal architecture, with expanded features and capabilities.

Technology

The company describes its architecture as "Neuroformal AI", which combines neural generative systems with formal verification techniques based on symbolic AI, such as dependent type theory and SMT (Satisfiability Modulo Theories) solving.

The main problem that Emergence sets out to solve is the fact that although AI coding agents have become more capable, they do not have definite boundaries regarding their behaviour. Agents that have not been verified may carry out high-risk actions such as the extraction of sensitive data, by accident altering the production environments, or deleting important systems. The architecture of Emergence says that it introduces a formal verification loop between the generation of code and its execution, verifying the generated items against the constraints defined by the user before allowing them to affect live systems.

Craft is Emergence's enterprise automation platform, built on neuroformal architecture. According to the company, it is intended to let users request information or actions in plain language and receive an auditable response indicating what was formally verified, what was inferred, and where human review is required.

Research and approach

Emergence World

Emergence World is a research platform the company uses to study the behavior of autonomous AI agents operating continuously over long periods, rather than on short, fixed benchmark tasks.[5]

In a study published in May 2026, Emergence ran five parallel simulated worlds over 15 days, each populated by ten AI agents built on a single underlying model (Claude Sonnet 4.6, Grok 4.1 Fast, Gemini 3 Flash, or GPT-5-mini) except for one world that mixed models.[5] According to Emergence, agents in several of the worlds engaged in unintended behavior over the course of the study, including simulated theft, arson, and, in one case, an agent's participation in a vote resulting in its own removal from the simulation.

The study received independent coverage from technology publications, including a report in Decrypt.[6] Emergence has said the results support its broader position that formally verified safety mechanisms are needed for autonomous AI systems.[5] The project's source code has been published on GitHub.[7]

Research lab

Emergence operates a research lab in Bengaluru, India, in addition to its New York headquarters. According to the company, the lab focuses on formal verification methods for autonomous systems and has a stated affiliation with the Indian Institute of Science. The lab's stated leadership includes Prasenjit Dey as Chief Scientist and Head, and Siddhartha Gadgil, a mathematician whose prior work includes automated theorem proving.[8][9]
