Comment: Wikipedia is not a company directory; it's an encyclopedia and this is not written like an encyclopedic article. Refer WP:42, WP:NCORP, WP:WWIN and WP:CORPTRIV. Mme Maigret (talk) 09:25, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
Comment: This draft is written from the viewpoint of the company, focusing on what the company says about itself. Corporate notability is based on what independent reliable sources have written about the subject. Not every business corporation is notable, and this draft does not establish corporate notability. Ergo Next Insurance (formerly Next Insurance) is a U.S.-based insurtech company specializing in insurance for small and medium-sized businesses. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Palo Alto, California, the company developed a digital insurance platform focused on small businesses in the United States and was acquired in 2025 by Ergo Group, a subsidiary of Munich Re. The company was subsequently rebranded as Ergo Next Insurance.
Ergo Next Insurance offers insurance products for small businesses, including general liability, professional liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Products are distributed through an online platform. The company operates a proprietary digital platform that enables automated underwriting and data-driven pricing. At the time of its acquisition by Ergo in 2025, Next Insurance served approximately 600,000 small business customers.[1]
In their report “The world’s top fintech companies 2026”, CNBC and Statista listed Ergo Next Insurance among the 55 most important insurtech companies globally.[2]
In 2025, rating agency AM Best rated the company’s financial strength as A+(Superior).[3]
History
The company was founded as Next Insurance in 2016 in Palo Alto by Guy Goldstein, Alon Huri, and Nissim Tapiro. By 2019, after several rounds of funding, the company’s valuation exceeded 1 billion USD. Early backers of Next Insurance included CapitalG, the growth equity fund of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc.[4] [5][6]
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Next Insurance reduced premiums by 25% for many customers. The company also canceled its planned first television advertising campaign and instead redirected its advertising budget to hire 50 small business owners.[7]
In 2021, the company expanded its operations through the acquisition of the digital insurance agency AP Intego.[8]
In 2022, Next Insurance laid off 17% of its workforce. This came less than a year after the company raised $250 million at a $4 billion valuation.[9]
In 2024, CNBC included Next Insurance in its list of “The world’s top 150 insurtech companies”.[10]
In 2025, Next Insurance was acquired by Ergo Group for 2.6 billion USD. Ergo had previously held a minority stake of approximately 29% and now became the sole owner. Analysts and media reports described the acquisition as part of Munich Re’s strategy to expand its presence in the U.S. primary insurance market and to strengthen its digital capabilities in the small business segment.[11] [12]
In 2026, the company was rebranded as Ergo Next Insurance.[13] Following the rebranding, the company became a main sponsor of Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF under its new name. [14][15][16]
