Everphone is a German technology company headquartered in Berlin. The company provides other organisations with mobile devices and other workplace hardware on long-term rental as a form of device as a service (DaaS).[1][2]
History
Foundation and pivot to B2B customers
Everphone was founded in 2016 by Jan Dzulko, a former board member of the comparison portal Check24.[3] According to Dzulko, the business idea arose from his personal experience of having to wait a long time for the replacement of a defective smartphone despite having special insurance.[4]
The company set out as a "smartphone club", promising quick device replacement in the event of a defect. After the consulting firm Ernst & Young expressed interest in a comparable all-round solution for its company devices, Everphone made a strategic pivot from the consumer to the business market in 2017 and has since focused exclusively on business-to-business (B2B) customers.[5]
Growth and financing
Everphone grew through several financing rounds. In 2020, the company raised €34 million in a Series B round, led by the Berlin-based venture capital investor Signals Venture Capital.[6] In 2021, a Series C round of €177 million (about US$200 million) followed, led by Cadence Growth Capital; investors included Deutsche Telekom and the US venture capital firm AlleyCorp.[7]
In 2024, Everphone secured financing totalling €270 million, consisting of around €250 million in debt and €21 million in equity. The funds were provided by parties including Citigroup and German state-owned bank KfW.[8]
The company's revenue rose from €19 million (2021) to €61 million (2022) and €86 million in 2023. In 2024, the company reached a revenue of €95 million, in 2025 it was €105 million.[9] In 2023, the company reported an EBITDA of €30 million and stated that it was approaching its operational break-even point.[10]
According to the company, Everphone manages more than 400,000 devices for over 1,000 companies, including several DAX corporations and international consulting firms.[11]
Business model
Everphone rents out hardware on a "use instead of own" basis and takes over the associated services such as procurement, provisioning, mobile device management, repair/incident management and replacement.[12]
The company rents out mobile devices, primarily smartphones and tablets, as well as other workplace devices such as laptops, PCs, monitors and docking stations.
At the end of a rental term, the devices are refurbished and reused or resold, following the principle of the circular economy.[13] For this approach, Everphone received the German Sustainability Award in 2026.[14]
Company
Everphone is organised as a limited liability company and has its headquarters in Berlin; further locations exist in Munich and Miami. The company employs 180 people.
Founder Jan Dzulko is acting as chief executive officer. Veronika von Heise-Rotenburg has served as chief financial officer and co-managing director since 2022.[15] Andreas Günther was appointed chief operating officer.[16] Mehmet Isik is a further member of the management as chief commercial officer (CCO).
