Draft:Game4Padel

Game4Padel

Game4Padel is the UK’s largest padel club operator, with 27 venues across England, Scotland and Wales, and overseas sites in Spain and Australia . It is the only operator with a geographical spread across the UK.

The company was at the forefront of the rapid expansion of padel - a racket sport often described as a mix of tennis and squash - by partnering with sports clubs, local authorities, residential developments and commercial venues to install and operate courts, and build thriving padel communities.

Founded in 2018, Game4Padel attracted early investment from some of the UK’s best known athletes including Andy Murray.[1], Virgil van Dijk[2] and Annabel Croft[3].

Game4Padel provides a full-service padel solution for its venues — from feasibility and planning consent to construction, funding, management, coaching, and maintenance. It generally covers all capital costs and lifetime upkeep in return for a share of revenue. In 2026, the company announced the start-up of its franchise operation[4] to continue to escalate the growth of the sport in the UK and beyond.

Game4Padel has introduced approximately 150,000 people to padel in the UK and has trained 250 padel coaches.

The company was valued at £29million in 2025[5].

History

Game4Padel entered the market in 2019, when the sport was in its infancy in the UK. The company was founded by Jim McMahon (Chairman), Michael Gradon (CEO), Peter Gordon (COO) and Vincent Hivert (CXO). In 2020, Carlos Sabugueiro joined as Co-Founder and Director of Strategy, and in 2025 Paul Hedley joined as Chief Financial Officer.

Peter Gordon had previously established Thistle Padel in Edinburgh in 2017, which served as a prototype for the Game4Padel business model before the company officially launched. Thistle Lawn Tennis Club had been a failing tennis club until padel courts were introduced. Membership had slumped from 400 to around 75 members, but since opening the padel courts in 2017, membership rebounded close to its original level[6].

The first official Game4Padel venue to open was at the Thistle Club in Edinburgh, followed by Barnton Park Lawn Tennis Club, Windsor LTC Penarth, and Withdean Sports Complex in Brighton.

The company gained significant public attention in May 2019 when it announced that former world No. 1 tennis player Andy Murray had joined as an investor and shareholder to help grow the sport in the UK.

Since its inception, the company has expanded its footprint across various locations, including high-profile sites such as Edinburgh Park, Hove Beach Park[7] in Sussex (in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council), The Padel Yard[8] in Wandsworth (one of London’s most vibrant padel clubs) and Parkside Padel[9] (in partnership with Berkeley on a residential site in Southall, London).

In November 2022, Game4Padel installed a pop-up padel court at Westfield shopping centre which generated significant media interest[10] including live coverage on BBC[11], Sky and CNN[12].

In January 2022[13], Game4Padel announced their first overseas venue in Australia at Docklands, Melbourne and in 2023, they opened their second venue in Richmond, Melbourne[14]. In April 2023, Game4Padel opened a 7-court padel centre at Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort in Spain.

In January 2026, Game4Padel announced it will be opening its first franchise venture in Glasgow[15]

Operations and Business Model

Game4Padel is the UK’s leading ‘pay and play’ operator, meaning anyone can book a session at a Gam4Padel venue without having to be a member of a club. This makes the sport highly accessible and attractive to those who have never played a racket sport previously.

Game4Padel uses booking platform MATCHi, which is a complete booking solution – allowing people to book courts online, gain access to courts via a gate system with security code, and for floodlights to be switched on automatically during evening hours.

Game4Padel operates venues with and without canopies. When venues are looking to install padel courts, Game4Padel provides a full-service padel solution — from feasibility and planning consent to construction, funding, management, coaching, and maintenance. It covers all capital costs and lifetime upkeep in return for a share of revenue. The company partners with sports clubs, universities, local authorities and commercial sites to grow the game nationwide through court installations, coaching programmes, events, and school engagement. Game4Padel also offers a franchising model, giving interested parties the chance to join its growing network and providing them with full, comprehensive support from its experienced team. Game4Padel also manages pickleball and tennis at some of its sites.
