George Butler Sutton (13 March 1863 – April 20, 1930) was an American professional pool player from Waverly, New York.[1]
George Butler Sutton, widely known by the nickname "The Count" was a distinguished billiards player who achieved international prominence during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.[1]

Early Life
George B. Sutton was born on March 13, 1863, in Waverly, New York, to Fredrick M. Sutton and Elizabeth S. Shackleton. His mother was the granddaughter of John Kirkpatrick of New Jersey, who served during the American Revolutionary War.[1]
Sutton’s father owned and operated a billiard parlor in Waverly, where Sutton developed an early interest in cue sports. By the age of eight, he was already handling a cue, often standing on a soapbox in order to reach the billiard table. Growing up around his father’s establishment helped shape his early familiarity with the games of pool and billiards.[1]
