Get Obnoxious is a rather obscure punk rock compilation album released sometime around 1986 under the label Baghead Records.[1] It mainly features punk songs and sludge metal tracks that were likely recorded as demos. Most notably, it features the track "Sound of Dentage" by American punk rock band Fecal Matter, formed by Kurt Cobain. The album contains songs from the bands Gun Control, Youthquake, Hated Principals, Alter Drown, Western Waste, Sincere Fibers, Out, Eco Guerillas, Closet Cast and as previously mentioned, Fecal Matter.
Most of these bands would eventually fall into obscurity, except for Fecal Matter, whose lead singer and guitarist would go on to form the world-famous grunge rock band Nirvana.
Packaging
The cover art is quite simple, it contains the logo for Baghead Records, which is a sketch of a man with a bag on his head with a speech balloon reading, "You suck!!". The rest of the cover features the tracklist. The background for the cover art is entirely red, with no other color visible.
Connection with Fecal Matter
In an advert for Baghead Records' previous compilation album Death Before Dishonor, it states that music needed to be sent personally to Baghead Records' P.O box in Seal Beach, California.[2] It is likely that either Kurt Cobain or Dale Crover, the drummer of the band, sent a copy of their demo tape Illiteracy Will Prevail to Baghead Records for them to place one of the songs from that tape onto Get Obnoxious.
