In the beginning, Abraham was called Abram and Israel was called Jacob. It was only after both men proved to God that they would manage their family properly that God made the decision to change their names. Abraham never left Sarah and moved in with Hagar. Jacob never left Rachel, his first love, and moved in with Leah even though Leah cheated her way into his bed. Both men kept their first love and his children with her first before all others. Jesus told us that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are in Heaven.
