Granoff Architects is an American architecture and design firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Founded in 1989 by architect Richard S. Granoff, the firm provides services in residential and commercial architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and historic preservation.[1]

The firm's work includes private residences, multifamily housing, commercial buildings, retail, mixed-use developments, and adaptive reuse projects. Its projects have been covered by regional and national publications including Greenwich Time, The Hour, and Architectural Digest.[2][3][4]

History

Granoff Architects was founded in 1989 by Richard S. Granoff in Greenwich, Connecticut.[1] The firm developed an interdisciplinary practice encompassing architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture.

Over the following decades, the firm's portfolio expanded to include residential, multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use projects. The firm has also worked on the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings in Greenwich.[2]

In 2017, Granoff Architects prepared to relocate its headquarters to 330 Railroad Avenue, a 1928 former Eversource Energy building. The approximately 25,000-square-foot building underwent a substantial renovation that retained elements of the historic structure while converting it to office use.[2]

Notable projects

  • Former Greenwich Post Office / Restoration Hardware — Granoff Architects was involved in the adaptive reuse of the former United States Post Office building in downtown Greenwich for Restoration Hardware.[5]
  • The Modern on Field Point — a 12-unit condominium development near Greenwich Town Hall. Greenwich Time reported that the two-building development was designed by Granoff Architects.[6]
  • 330 Railroad Avenue — adaptive reuse and renovation of the former Connecticut Light & Power building in Greenwich as the firm's headquarters and additional office space.[2]
  • 111 West Putnam Avenue — commercial project associated with a JPMorgan Chase bank location in Greenwich.[7]
  • Chabad of Greenwich — Granoff Architects was selected for the conversion and expansion of the former First Lutheran Church property on Field Point Road into a Chabad center.[8]

Recognition

Granoff Architects has received recognition for architecture and historic preservation projects. Its work on the former Greenwich Post Office, later converted for use by Restoration Hardware, received preservation recognition following the adaptive reuse of the historic building.

The firm's work has also appeared in national and regional design publications. Richard Granoff was included in Architectural Digest's "Open Audition: New York's Finest," and Syracuse University School of Architecture has noted coverage of his work in publications including The New York Times, Veranda, Fine Homebuilding, Hamptons Magazine, and Greenwich Magazine.[4][9]
