Gray Collection

Gray Collection is a Canadian hospitality and restaurant group based in Montréal, Québec. Originating from the Antonopoulos Group, founded in 1973, it operates a collection of boutique hotels, restaurants, and event venues in Montréal and Ottawa.

History

Gray Collection traces its origins to the Antonopoulos Group, founded in Montréal in 1973 by brothers Costa and Tony Antonopoulos. Initially focused on the restaurant industry, the group gradually established a presence in Old Montréal beginning in the 1980s, during which several heritage buildings in the district were restored and repurposed for commercial use.

Over time, the group diversified its activities by developing hotel properties connected to its restaurant operations. Early establishments included Auberge du Vieux‑Port, Le Petit Hôtel, and the Lofts du Vieux‑Port, contributing to the development of an integrated offering combining hospitality and dining.

The opening of Hotel William Gray in 2016 marked a significant milestone in the group’s evolution, bringing together multiple functions, including accommodations, restaurants, event spaces, and wellness facilities, within a single project.

In 2022, the Antonopoulos Group was restructured[1][2] and divided into two separate entities: Gray Collection and Corner Collection. The two companies became independent from one another and now operate separately.

That same year, the group opened the Metcalfe Hotel[3] in Ottawa, marking its first expansion outside of Québec.

Organization

Gray Collection is a family-owned business led by members of the Antonopoulos family alongside a management team specialized in hospitality, dining, and operations.

The company is headed by Dimitri Antonopoulos, President and co-owner, and son of co-founder Costa Antonopoulos. He is supported by his sisters, Georgia Antonopoulos, Ioanna Antonopoulos, and Angie Antonopoulos, all of whom are actively involved in the group’s operations.

Activities

The group operates across several segments of the hospitality industry:

  • Hospitality: operation of boutique hotels in urban environments
  • Food and beverage: management of restaurants and bars
  • Events: organization of corporate and private events
