Hall Drake Diteman (June 24, 1925 – January 19, 2009) was an American landscape painter whose career spanned more than fifty years. Best known for his portrayals of Yellowstone National Park, the Beartooth Mountains, and the Northern Rocky Mountains, he became one of Montana's most accomplished landscape artists.
After studying at Pomona College and Yale Divinity School, Diteman continued his artistic education in Paris, where he studied the techniques of the European masters. His paintings were exhibited by the Smithsonian, the R. W. Norton Art Gallery, Sotheby Parke Bernet in New York, and numerous galleries throughout the western United States. In 1975, he was selected as one of only eight artists for the Franklin Mint's America the Beautiful Bicentennial Fine Art Collection. His work is represented in the permanent collection of the Yellowstone Art Museum.
Known for painting directly from nature, Diteman produced an extensive body of work depicting the landscapes, wildlife, and ranch country of the American West. His paintings continue to be exhibited through galleries, museums, and auction houses specializing in Western American art.
