Highfield Hooligans are a football club based in Highfields, Leicester, England. Founded in 2025, the club competes in the University of Leicester Intramural Football League.[1][2]
History
Highfield Hooligans were founded in 2025 by Nicholas Conquest, who serves as the club's owner, manager, and captain.[1] The club entered the University of Leicester Intramural Football League in its inaugural season, competing in the Premier League division.[2]
2025–26 Term 1 season
In their debut season, the Hooligans struggled for results, managing only a single win across the campaign. The club finished 9th out of 10 teams in the Premier League, resulting in relegation to the Championship division for the following season.[2]
2025-2026 Term 2 season
Playing in the Championship following relegation, Highfield Hooligans improved slightly on their debut campaign, recording two wins over the season. The club finished 8th out of 10 teams in the division.[2]
Rivalries
Highfield Hooligans have developed rivalries with two clubs in the league:
- Clivedon Pink Fairy Armadillos (CPFA)
- Development
Rivalry origins
The rivalry between Highfield Hooligans and Development traces back to a Term 2 fixture in the 2025–26 season. Having beaten Development 3–2 in the corresponding Term 1 fixture, Highfield Hooligans led 1–0 at half-time in the return match. At the interval, Development introduced a full team of substitutes with Premier League-level experience, a change permitted under the league's open substitution rules. Highfield Hooligans ultimately lost the match 5–3.
The result led to heightened tensions between the two sides at full-time, with words exchanged between players before the teams were separated. The dispute was compounded by the fact that the match official also served as the league's tournament organiser and as a player-manager for Development, which some Highfield Hooligans players felt represented a conflict of interest. The incident is regarded as the origin of the ongoing rivalry between the two clubs.[1][2]
Kit
Highfield Hooligans' home kit is predominantly black, featuring a red and grey floral/dragon-scale graphic running diagonally down one side of the shirt and shorts. Shirt numbers and names are displayed in white, with the club crest on the left breast. Shorts and socks are black, with the crest and number repeated on the shorts.[1]
Squad
Note: Flags indicate national team as defined under FIFA eligibility rules; some limited exceptions apply. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality.
