Howie Liu (born 1988) is an American technology entrepreneur who is a co-founder and the chief executive officer of Airtable, a cloud software company.[1] Before Airtable he cofounded Etacts, a contact-management startup that Salesforce acquired in 2010.[2]
Career
Liu started his career as a software developer at Accenture in San Jose. In February 2010, he co-founded Etacts With Evan Beard and took part in Y Combinator’s winter 2010 cohort.[1] Etacts raised approximately $700,000 from angel investors including Ron Conway, Joshua Schachter, YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim and the actor Ashton Kutcher.[2] Salesforce acquired Etacts on 21 December 2010.[3] Liu joined Salesforce as a product manager. He left the company in 2012.[1][4]
In 2012, Liu along with Andrew Ofstad and Emmett Nicholas founded Airtable. In November 2018 the company raised $100 million at a post-money valuation of $1.1 billion, its first valuation above $1 billion.[5] A $185 million Series D round led by Thrive Capital followed in September 2020, valuing Airtable at about $2.5 billion. In December 2021 the company raised $735 million in a Series F round led by XN, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Franklin Templeton and Michael Dell’s MSD Capital, at a valuation of $11 billion.[6]
