Comment: I would not call some of these sources "in-depth coverage"; one source doesn't even mention the subject and the LinuxFoundation page doesn't seem to cover the subject much either. Both of the other sources call themselves blogs which are unreliable. Rambley (talk / contribs) 09:19, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

Hystax is a software company that develops cloud computing infrastructure tools, including FinOps (financial operations) platforms and disaster recovery software. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, the company's products are used to migrate workloads between cloud providers and manage cloud infrastructure costs.
History
Hystax was founded in 2016 in Sunnyvale, California. The company initially developed software for cloud migration and backup in hybrid cloud environments.
In 2022, the company released **OptScale**, a cost-management platform, as an open-source software project under the Apache 2.0 license. Following this release, Hystax joined the Linux Foundation as a general member.[1]
Products
OptScale
OptScale is an open-source FinOps platform designed to analyze cloud spending across multi-cloud environments (such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud). It creates a "map" of cloud resources to identify idle instances and budget overruns.
In 2025, technical analysis by CloudForecast listed OptScale as a primary open-source alternative for AWS cost optimization, noting its focus on engineering-led cost tracking.[2] Industry comparisons by Chaos Genius placed the software in the context of the "Open Source FinOps" ecosystem, comparing its feature set to proprietary alternatives like Datadog.[3]
Hystax Acura
Acura is a software product for disaster recovery and live cloud migration. The software replicates workloads from on-premises or cloud environments to target platforms to allow for failover during IT outages. It supports replication to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and OpenStack.
