Draft:Ivo Dimchev

  • Comment: I can't really see this as a stub, since the final version may not be much different to where it is now. Only one new source was added since the last decline. There are two good pieces of RS on the subject, and two others relating to their work, one of the sources focuses more on the film. So it looks like we remain too light on sources, and we need one or two more good sources to get over the hurdle of WP:BASIC. For WP:MUSICBIO then this takes sourcing in a different direction, which I mention just in case it helps the submitting editor. ChrysGalley (talk) 13:50, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Ivo Dimchev is a queer performance artist and musician from Bulgaria. He sings in Bulgarian and English.

A documentary film about Dimchev, titled In Hell With Ivo and directed by Kristina Nikolova, won the Special Jury Award at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival.[1]

Critical Reception

The New Yorker called Dimchev the most famous singer-songwriter of Bulgaria. He has been compared by fans to Annie Lennox, Kate Bush, and Freddie Mercury. Critics have suggested that his work bears the closest resemblance to that of Anohni, the British singer formerly known as the lead vocalist of Antony and the Johnsons.[2] A review in the San Francisco Chronicle characterized Dimchev as a multidisciplinary performer whose technically skilled and highly expressive voice complements his provocative and theatrical stage presence.[3]

Exeunt Magazine described Lili Handel as a performance whose apparent provocation is underpinned by unexpected subtlety and control.[4]
