They were the winner of the first Kids Mindhacking Championship when they were 10 yrs old. Their appearance is mostly unknown, as the only part of them shown in the game is their hands which are concealed by white gloves. This is done so that the player could create their own interpretation of the Doctor's appearance.

The directive was later shifted to protect Mindhackers from their targets during their mindhacking sessions.

She is a grey humanoid who wears a gray capelet, which casts a shadow nearly over her entire face, with only a singular white circular eye, and a tiny portion of her face and neck not being covered in shadow. She also wears a chest plate and dawns armor on her shoulders.

She was berated for by her parents when she decided to leave her original job to go join HOTFIX, with her mother often calling her and berating her about her decision. She also struggled with depression and anxiety, which made her to consider taking her own life, however, the Doctor did something that she says saved her life. Shogo Komagome (better known as Newbie or Newbie Guard) is a member of HOTFIX, and is the sixth Mindhacking subject players encounter in the game. As his name implies, he is the newest member of HOTFIX, replacing a guard named Koreeda, who was killed in the game's opening.

He is a grey humanoid who wears the usual HOTFIX guard uniform. His most distinguishing feature seen most of the time in game is his teeth which appear sharp. In Chapter 6 when he has his helmet off, he is shown with no eyes, however, this is most likely a stylistic choice, due to him mentioning having eyes.

When he was a child, his father was sent to prison. He was told by his mother that even though his father was incarcerated, he was working to become a good person. Due to what his mother told him, he worked hard so his dad would be proud of him, however upon meeting his dad, he turned out to be an arrogant, selfish person. Due to this, Newbie started to view all criminals as scumbags, he would also try to distance himself from his father as much as possible. He would duct tape his mirror as he looked similar to him, and he would force himself to be right-handed even though he was left-handed, due to his father being left-handed. He later moved and attended a new school where he would start an art program due to him wanting to be an artist. However, the art program was far above his level, and the teacher never complimented his work and would only critique it. He would later find HOTFIX via a television channel, and he began to admire them due him believing that they were punishing criminals and scumbags, and due to them acting like a "machine". He would work hard and would eventually join HOTFIX after a spot opened up upon Koreeda's death, however he would find out that members had their own personalities and did not operate like the machine that he thought they were.

After Unid's Mindhack, Newbie was assigned to look after Unid. During the course of the game Newbie constantly calls Unid a scumbag even when Unid acts kind towards him.

After the events of Chapter 5, all of HOTFIX who came into contact with Hugo are scanned for BUGs, and Newbie is found to have one. Due to FORMAT finding a BUG in Newbie, he is sent to be Mindhacked by the Doctor. In Chapter 6 when Newbie is being Mindhacked by the Doctor, a bunch of static appears, and two choices appear that ask whether the Doctor is a Mindhacker or the FATAL ERROR, the player can choose between the two options and depending on what option is picked, a different ending for the chapter occurs. In the Mindhacker route, Newbie's Mindhack finishes without any problems. In the FATAL ERROR route, the Doctor manifests a shard which they coerce Newbie to use as a way to kill himself. The Doctor is then exited from the Mindhack as it goes awry and sees Newbie with his BUG manifesting out of him, shortly after he is killed by Captain in order to protect the doctor.

Newbie appears in the following chapters:

  • Chapter 1
  • Chapter 2
  • Chapter 3
  • Chapter 4
  • Chapter 5
  • Chapter 6

FORMAT is the AI that is in control of the Mindhacking facility. She takes care of the Doctor, acting like a motherly figure towards them.

While FORMAT herself doesn't have a physical body, wavy semi-transparent walls found throughout the facility, allow her to be able to maintain it. They also allow her to communicate with, listen, and detect people inside the facility.

She was created by a development team that had help from a company so that there could be a way to scan for BUGs, as there was no way to tell a normal person and a BUG carrier apart.

Unid is the first Mindhacking subject players encounter in the game. He is an anthropomorphic sea urchin that is the leader of a gang called Bloody Paella, which distributed a drug known as Gonbessa.

Unid has a circular head with spikes. Before the Mindhack, the spikes were long and pointy, however, after his Mindhack, the spikes became stubby, semi resembling flower petals. Unid has a singular orange eye with a greyish-white pupil. Unid's head floats and is not attached to his neck.

During his childhood, he was raised in an orphanage and was abused by the matron of the facility, once being forced to pick up coleslaw off the floor. He stayed at the facility until he was 13, when he was adopted, he would later run away from his adoptive parents. He would later get a job where he would meet an anthropomorphic acorn barnacle, Fujitsubo. The two would become friends and would later form the gang.

After a few years, while riding motorcycles on the highway, a car nearly hit them, though it swerved out of the way in time, the car itself would get flipped over. Unid rushed over to the victim, but upon finding out that the victim was the matron that abused him when he was in the orphanage, he left with his fellow gang members, letting her die. Eventually a fire would start due to a gas leakage from the car, and it would eventually spread to a nearby building. He was later arrested for the hit and run and arson. After the Mindhack, Unid becomes friendly, naive and docile. He is looked after by Newbie during the rest of the game. In Chapter 6, due to good behavior he becomes the janitor for the facility.
