Loud Urban Choir (also known as LUC) is a Nigerian contemporary choir and music ensemble formed in 2019. It gained wider recognition in 2022 following its choral rendition of "Bloody Samaritan", originally recorded by Ayra Starr.

Background

Loud Urban Choir was established in 2019 by a collective of independent Nigerian vocalists seeking to combine contemporary popular music with traditional choral performance. Many of its members had previously performed in church choirs before forming the ensemble. During its early years, the choir primarily released choral covers and reinterpretations of contemporary songs. In 2022, its rendition of "Bloody Samaritan", originally by Ayra Starr and later remixed with Kelly Rowland, gained mainstream success globally.[1][2][3]

Career

In 2023, Loud Urban Choir expanded its organisational structure and performance activities. In October 2024, the choir held its first headline concert, The Loud Pop-Up Show, in Nigeria.

In 2025, the choir won the Best Afrobeat Choir award at the Man On Cheq Awards.

Later In 2025, the choir presented Living Loud: The Concert, its first ticketed headline concert.[4] [5] During 2025 and 2026, Loud Urban Choir collaborated with several musicians through recorded releases and live performances, including Don Jazzy, Chike, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Yemi Alade and Zoro.

The choir has also worked alongside artists including Wande Coal, Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold, Johnny Drille, Timi Dakolo, Teni, Peruzzi, Phyno and Chella. [6]
