Medicover Integrated Clinical Services

Medicover Integrated Clinical Services (MICS) is a strategic business organisation that provides globally integrated clinical development solutions. The company offers a comprehensive one-stop shop for Pharma, Biotech, Medtech.[1] and contract research organisations (CROs) companies.

Medicover Integrated Clinical Services connects advanced central laboratory services, precision diagnostics, and the comprehensive management of its wholly owned clinical research network.[2] Through these clinical solutions, the company accelerates drug development and the commercialization of innovative therapies and medicines.

Medicover MICS is part of Medicover Group, a leading international healthcare and diagnostic services company founded in 1995 and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.

History

Medicover Integrated Clinical Services (MICS) originates from Nova Medical, founded in Poland in 1996. Its development is closely linked to the Medicover Group, established in 1995[3], which expanded its diagnostic network across Europe. In 2006, Nova Medical became part of Synevo, strengthening its position within the group’s laboratory structures.
A key milestone followed in 2011 with the creation of Synevo Central Labs across multiple countries (including Poland, Germany, Ukraine and Romania), supporting international clinical trials. In 2019–2020, Synevo Central Labs was rebranded as Medicover Integrated Clinical Services[4], reflecting a more integrated approach to clinical research and pharma support services.

Medicover MICS provides its services on global scale. The company uses the vast network of Medicover hospitals, clinics and labs in Europe and India, and its global network of partners to support the development of innovative drugs and therapies.

Central Laboratory Services, Precision Medicine and Companion Diagnostics services operate within a global laboratory network, combining its proprietary laboratory facilities (available in 17 Central and Eastern Europe countries) with strategic partnerships across key international regions (USA, Argentina, India, China, South Korea, Australia)[8]. This extensive infrastructure enables the delivery of high-quality laboratory services for clinical research projects of varying scale and complexity.

Medicover MICS Site Management Organisation operates mainly in Poland and Germany supporting patient recruitment and study conduction with own dedicated sites.

Services and activities

Medicover Integrated Clinical Services brings innovative therapies and diagnostics to the market. They provide comprehensive study execution and consulting services covering a wide range of therapeutic fields, such as oncology, immunology, CNS, vaccines, rare diseases, and more. MICS services are organized under three business lines:

Central Lab Services - Comprehensive solutions to coordinate every aspect of clinical trial laboratory services. MICS combines professional experience and operational excellence to support clinical trial sponsors and CROs starting from study setup to the final submission of laboratory results. Central Lab Services contains:

  • Laboratory documentation preparation (review the trial protocol, identifying critical laboratory parameters, sample types, and testing methodologies)
  • Laboratory testing (selecting the appropriate testing facility, equipment, and methods to respect the required timelines and effective turn-around time)
  • Samples Management (from sample collection sets and labelling protocols to shipment and storage of samples)
  • Data Management (running processes that align with international regulatory standards: Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) guidelines)[9]
  • Collections Sets Production (assembling custom collection sets tailored to trial’s specific needs).
  • Project Management & Coordination (crucial for maintaining the quality and consistency of the samples throughout the testing workflow in the trial) - dedicated single point of contact throughout the entire study.
  • Supplies and Samples Logistics (developing a customized logistics plan that aligns with the specific requirements and risk assessment)[10]

Site Management Organization - With MICS own network of clinical study sites and access to Medicover Group's network of more than 100 medical centers, MICS integrates digital solutions and innovative approaches to support patient recruitment and the entire clinical trial journey.[11]

Precision Medicine - Complete multi-omics services to support targeted therapy and drug development programs. MICS provides end-to-end services including biomarker discovery, target validation, CDx assay development, commercialization, and regulatory services.[12]

MICS makes strategic use of Medicover Group[13] resources, including laboratories with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, medical clinics and hospitals, as well as the vast expertise of a global workforce.

The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of over 12,000 assays for clinical applications, supported by a network of over 140 laboratories and over 1000 blood-drawing points.[14] Its laboratory services span a wide range of testing capabilities, from routine clinical parameters to highly specialized biomarker and histological analyses.

The service portfolio includes advanced methodologies such as ultra-sensitive multiplexed biomarker analysis, ELISA, RT-PCR, liquid biopsies, peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) analysis, radioimmunoassay (RIA), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), in situ hybridization (ISH), and digital pathology.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Medicover Integrated Clinical Services have implemented an Integrated Quality Management System based on the well-recognized international quality standards and regulatory guidelines such as Good Clinical Practices (ICH GCP), Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP), ISO 15189:2022. Additionally, our Clinical Trials Laboratory Management System (CTLMS) is compliant with Title 21 Part 11 of the Code of Federal Regulations (21CFR Part11), which applies to electronic records and electronic signatures[15].

Acquisitions

In 2025 Medicover has acquired SYNLAB Group’s local businesses in Romania, Turkey, Cyprus, Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia – expanding our presence in the region and entering three new markets[16]

The acquisition includes 25 laboratories and 80 blood-drawing points (BDPs), supported by approximately 675 skilled professionals. These facilities provide essential routine and advanced testing services to the general public, specialist doctors, and hospitals. This acquisition strengthens MICS services and helps streamline operations by integrating advanced testing across Medicover network.
