The MMT-40 is a light tank developed by Myanmar with assistance from Ukraine

History

In 2019, the Tatmadaw posted a photograph of the prototype on Facebook

At the end of January 2019, Ukrspecexport delivered to Myanmar a set of technical documentation for the production of light armoured vehicles (BTR-4U, 2S1U) and MMT-40 tanks, production was expected to begin in 2020

Design

The turret is equipped with a 105 mm rifled gun from the WMA301 Assault Gun, three smoke grenade dischargers are mounted on each side of the turret, equipped with a new fire control system and laser range finder.

The chassis is based on the Soviet 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer
