History

ManipalCigna was established in 2014,[7] as a joint venture between Cigna Healthcare, TTK Group and Manipal Group.[8] The company was originally named Cigna TTK Health Insurance Company Limited. In 2019, it was renamed ManipalCigna Health Insurance Company Limited after Manipal Group acquired TTK Group’s 31.48% stake in the business.[8]

The company had a presence in over 400 cities in India and tie-ups with over 9,000 hospitals.[9]

In 2019, the company partnered with IIFL Wealth Finance Ltd., a subsidiary of IIFL Wealth Management Limited, to offer health insurance products to the financial services company's clients.[10]

In 2022, the company launched ManipalCigna Sahi Cover, Discover, Indian health insurance industry’s first online calculator for choosing the right health insurance coverage.[11]

In 2023, IRDAI appointed ManipalCigna Health as the lead insurer for the Karnataka State Awareness Insurance Plan.[12]

In 2024, ManipalCigna launched a policy, Sarvah.[13][14]

The company expanded its presence into Tamil Nadu[15] and Rajasthan.[16] during 2025.[17]

The company’s Sarvah Param health insurance plan includes the “Tatkal Benefit,” that eliminates waiting periods for pre-existing diseases.[18]
