  • Comment: Note that people do not get Wikipedia articles just for standing as candidates in elections they haven't won. The notability test for politicians is holding a notable political office, not just running for one, while unelected candidates get articles only if they were already notable for some other reason as it is. So getting this into Wikipedia would depend on showing that he already passed our inclusion standards for businesspeople before standing as a candidate for anything -- if you're trying to stake notability on his candidacy itself, then he has to win the election, not just run in it, to get an article on the basis of his political activity per se. Matthew McKinnon Corey is an American businessman, United States Navy veteran,[1] and Republican politician from Connecticut.[2]

In 2026, Corey became the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. He is known for multiple campaigns for federal and statewide office, including runs for the United States Senate against Senator Chris Murphy in 2018[3] and 2024.[4][5]

Corey previously served in the United States Navy and later became a small business owner in Connecticut.[6] He was the Republican nominee for Connecticut’s 1st congressional district in 2014[7] and the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 2018 and 2024.[2][5][8]

In 2026, Corey became the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor of Connecticut.[9]
