Maya Talem is an Italian-Tunisian actress, screenwriter, and producer based in Rome, Italy. Born in Tunis, she has built an international career across Italian television, European and Hollywood cinema, and Arab-world productions. She is fluent in Italian, French, English, and Spanish, with command of multiple Arabic dialects including Egyptian, Lebanese, Tunisian, Emirati, Saudi, Moroccan, Libyan, and Berber Arabic. She has been featured by Deadline Hollywood in connection with the international production Maserati: The Brothers.[1]
Career
Film
Talem made her feature film debut in Tutto Molto Bello (2014), directed by Paolo Ruffini, distributed on Mediaset. In 2018, she appeared in Karmouz War, directed by Peter Mimi, alongside Amir Karara and Scott Adkins, distributed on Amazon Prime Video.
In 2019 she starred as Raghdah in Pharaoh's War (Hamlet Pheroun), directed by Raouf Abdul Aziz, alongside Mike Tyson and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, released on Netflix. The same year she appeared as Nicole in Il gatto e la luna, directed by Roberto Lippolis, alongside Maria Grazia Cucinotta and Enrico Lo Verso, distributed on Amazon Prime Video.
In 2024, Talem starred as Rabab Saubé in The Goat, directed by Ilaria Borrelli (Italy/France), alongside Mira Sorvino and John Savage. The film was an Official Selection at the Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival 2024.[2][3]
In 2025, she plays Rosa in Maserati: The Brothers, a biographical film about the Maserati family directed by Bobby Moresco (Academy Award winner for Crash). The film stars Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Alba, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Michele Morrone, and Salvatore Esposito. Produced by Andrea Iervolino, the film is scheduled for U.S. distribution by Magenta Light Studios on more than 2,000 screens across the United States and Canada, and was filmed at Cinecittà Studios, Rome, Modena, and Bologna.[4][5][6]

Talem began her Italian television career in 2015 with Non Uccidere (RAI 3 / Netflix International; international title: Thou Shalt Not Kill, broadcast on PBS, More4, and Arte), directed by Giuseppe Gagliardi, in the role of Amina. In 2016 she appeared in Il bello delle donne (Canale 5) as Canella, and in 2017 in Un passo dal cielo (RAI 1 / RaiPlay) as Youssef's Wife. In 2020, she played Silvye in L'Alligatore (RAI 2 / RaiPlay), directed by Daniele Ferrario and Emanuele Scaringi.[7]
Alongside her Italian work, Talem has been active in the Arab-world market. In 2018 she appeared in Bolice 4.0 on Attessia TV (Tunisia). In 2019, she played Sara in The Returnees (Al Aaedoun), broadcast on MBC / Shahid. In 2021, she played Sonia in The Spy, directed by Rabii Tekali, for Elhiwar Ettounsi (Tunisia). In 2022, she appeared as Monica in Disco (RAI). In 2025, she starred as Fatin in Ish Ish, directed by Mohamed Sami, produced by Sadaf Media Productions and broadcast during Ramadan 2025 on MBC Masr / Shahid.[8]

Talem has served as brand ambassador for Ferrari and Roberto Cavalli.[9]
Training
Talem holds a Merit Diploma from the Three-Year Acting Program at Fondamenta – La Scuola dell'Attore in Rome. She has also studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles, attended the Bernard Hiller Masterclass, and trained in diction and acting with Jorgelina de Petris. She has pursued screenwriting development across the United States and Egypt.
