Meet5 is a social network app aimed at helping adults make friends, primarily through small-group social activities. It’s operated by Meet5 GmbH, a company headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Meet5 was founded in 2017 and has over 3 million users across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the USA.[1][2] Every member can organize their own activities, or join in activities others have created. Meet5 aims to use initial online connection in order to bring members offline and into fun get-togethers in the real world.[3]

History

Meet5’s founders are Lukas Reinhardt, CEO, and Kai Burghardt, CTO. They founded Meet5 in April of 2017, first as a group dating app called Go Crush. When more members began finding friendship instead of romantic connections, the founders rebranded into Meet5.[4]

Concept

Meet5 is a community app where members can join group activities in their free time. Activities must be focused on leisure, with commercial or political activities not allowed. Meet5 staff regularly offer online video calls to welcome new members and share tips to get started on the app and in the community. The Meet5 team also chooses captains, who are the personal foundation of their local communities and a connection to the team. Captains are local volunteers who host multiple activities a month. Meet5 had around 1250 community captains as of 2025.[5][6][7]

Media coverage

Meet5 has appeared in several media outlets across Europe, with coverage centering around the app’s ease of use, and role facilitating social connection for adults, especially those 40+.

In fall 2025, Business Insider and other business media outlets reported on Meet5’s leading role as a socializing platform in Europe, and its expansion to the United States.[7][8] This coverage highlighted Meet5’s series A funding round and expansion of the team to over 65 people. In September 2025, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.) described Meet5 as a positive alternative for people tired of dating apps.[9]

Funding

Meet5 operates on a freemium model, with a Premium upgrade unlocking additional features such as private messaging. Meet5 has investors, and has raised a total of €1.8 million across three funding rounds. In September 2025, Meet5 announced the close of an €8 million Series A funding round, which was to be used for international expansion, hiring, and product development.[7][8]

Facts

According to Meet5, the app had over 2.5 million members as of May 2025. It’s available on Android and iOS, and in English, German, French, and Dutch. Meet5 reported that 40,000 activities take place every month, with around 300,000 total people attending. They report the average age of members is 57, and that there are slightly more female members than male. Meet5 describes itself as a socializing and community network, not a dating app.[7]
