Metal Rod binding(Korean: 철장, 鐵裝, cheol-jang) is a special tradtiional binding style in Korea. Unlikely the usual binding style in Asia, this method used metal nail and rod to bind papers. It is observed in heavy and huge manuscripts like administrative or ritual records produced in Joseon dynasty.

Common form is binding hemp fiber clothes cover with 3 iron nails and 2 strips per each cover. Later this form had evolved to decorative silk cover and brass stuffs to represent the royality and dignity of the record for novel people. As a special variation, there are some manuscripts only bound by nails without rods.
