Mike Diamond is an Australian-born television personality, interventionist, author, director, and life coach.[1] He is known for his appearances on television programs including Miami Ink and NY Ink, as well as his work on the reality television series Bondi Ink Tattoo Crew.[1][2] He is also an interventionist on the A&E television series Intervention.[3]
Early life
Mike was born in Perth, Western Australia.[3] According to A&E, he was diagnosed with dyslexia and began using drugs and alcohol at the age of 12.[3] He was expelled from high school at age 16 and moved to Sydney at age 19, where he enrolled at the Actors Centre.[3]
While working at a clothing store in Sydney, Diamond received a ticket for the Green Card Lottery from a customer.[3] He moved to the United States in 1997 after winning a green card and subsequently obtained acting work and other television opportunities.[1]
Diamond appeared on Miami Ink and later became the store manager at the Wooster Street tattoo shop associated with Ami James, where he appeared on the third season of NY Ink.[4]
Recovery and intervention work
Diamond has publicly discussed his history of drug and alcohol addiction and subsequent recovery.[3] He states that he became sober on April 16, 2006.[3]
Following his recovery, Diamond began working in the addiction-recovery field as an interventionist.[3] A&E identifies him as an interventionist on Intervention and lists him as an NCIP, NCCM, and NCRC.[3]
In April 2025, American Addiction Centers announced that Diamond had been appointed its Director of Engagement and Intervention Services.[5] The announcement stated that Diamond had 19 years of sobriety and had conducted hundreds of interventions during his career.[5]
Author
Diamond is the author of A Dose of Positivity: Tools, Techniques, and Strategies to Live Life on Your Terms, published in 2023 by Matt Holt Books and distributed by Simon & Schuster.[6] The book discusses Diamond's experiences with addiction and recovery and presents his approach to personal development and finding purpose.[6][7]
