Minecraft – Volume Beta is the second soundtrack album created by German electronic musician Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld. Created for the 2011 video game Minecraft, it is the second of two albums created by Rosenfeld for the game's soundtrack. The album was initially released digitally on November 9, 2013 on Rosenfeld's Bandcamp page and the iTunes Store and was later released on vinyl record and CD formats in 2020 and as a cassette tape in 2025.

Background

Volume Beta is the sequel to Minecraft – Volume Alpha and is the second album of the soundtrack to the 2011 sandbox video game Minecraft. Prior to his work on Minecraft, Rosenfeld mainly produced experimental albums inspired by the work of British musician and composer Aphex Twin, which he described as "making no sense."[1]

Composition

In comparison to its successor, Volume Alpha, Rosenfeld stated on his website that Volume Beta is "both more positive and at times very dark," and that “some of the songs even have percussion, which is something that was a complete rarity with Volume Alpha.“[2]
