Mirlan Koichubekovich Chynybaev (Template:Lang-ky; born 17 August 1978) is a Kyrgyz scientist and academic administrator. He has served as the rector of the Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU) named after I. Razzakov since 2020.[1][2]
Education
Chynybaev graduated from KSTU in 2003 with a master's degree in applied mechanics. In 2008 he received a Candidate of Sciences degree in physical and mathematical sciences (specialty 01.02.04, mechanics of deformable solids), and in 2011 he was awarded the academic title of associate professor.[2]
Career
Chynybaev held a number of positions at KSTU, including dean of the Kyrgyz-German Technical Faculty (2009–2010), head of the department of mechanics and industrial engineering (2011–2016), vice-rector for research (2015–2017), and vice-rector for academic affairs (2017–2020).[2]
In the rectoral election held on 16 December 2020, in which seven candidates ran, Chynybaev won the second round with 288 votes against 256 for his opponent Taalaibek Matkerimov.[1][3] He was reappointed as rector on 18 December 2025.[4]
His research interests include mathematical and computer modelling, the theory of plasticity and systems analysis.[5]
