Mitu is an Indian television producer, writer and director associated with Hindi television programming.[1] She worked with Balaji Telefilms on the television series Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and later directed independent projects including the short film Bawra Mann: The Heart Needs No Reason and the television series Bhaage Re Mann. [2]

Early life and education

Mitu was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She attended Loreto Convent and later studied at La Martiniere College, Lucknow. During her school years, she participated in theatre productions and extracurricular activities, developing an early interest in dramatics. She later moved to Delhi for higher education and graduated with a degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. While at college, she was associated with the Hindi Dramatics Society and participated in stage productions. She later completed a postgraduate diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from YMCA.[3]

In 1993, Mitu began her career in television with the Zee TV programme Aap Ki Adalat, working under television journalist Rajat Sharma.[4]

Mitu worked with Balaji Telefilms during the production of the television series Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, where she was associated with the creative team. The series aired on Star Plus and became one of the longest-running Hindi television dramas.[5]

She later worked on television projects including Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, Samman Ek Adhikaar, and Pehel Ek Nayi Subah.[6]

Independent films and productions

Mitu later moved into independent filmmaking and founded the production banner Positive Thinkerz. In 2013, she wrote and directed the short film Bawra Mann: The Heart Needs No Reason, featuring Sakshi Tanwar, Nishikant Kamat, and Anand Tiwari.[7]

She later directed the short film O Re Manvaa featuring Sakshi Tanwar, Nishikant Kamat and Anand Tiwari.[8] and created the television series Bhaage Re Mann, which aired on Zindagi.[9] Her work under Positive Thinkerz has included television, short films, and digital content projects.[10]
