Origins and development

Mojo Swoptops is based on a Ladybird book property created by Cindy Black and Rich Ward.[1][2] According to Aardman's distribution information, the original book brand was first published in 1979 and sold more than 250,000 copies; the adaptation emphasises vehicle transformation and a modernised "electric" concept for the protagonist's modular tops.[7]

Blue Zoo has stated that development work on an animated adaptation began in 2004, with the eventual series produced as a preschool comedy-action format for CBeebies.[8]
