Morgan E. Geyser (born May 16, 2002) is an American woman from Waukesha, Wisconsin known for being the perpetrator of Slender Man stabbing. In 2014, she and her twelve-year old friend, Anissa E. Weier, lured their friend, Payton Isabella Leutner (also twelve), into a forest and stabbed her 19 times. She survived the attack and was rescued by a passer-by.

Geyser believed that killing Leutner would applease and prove the existence of fictional supernatural character Slender Man. Geyser and Weier were caught five hours after, Geyser was admitted to Winnebago Mental Health Institute after the arrest and later diagnosed with early-onset childhood schizophrenia.

Geyser was tried as an adult in 2017 on the charge of attempted first-degree murder, she pleaded guilty to the charge but was found not-guilty by reason of insanity. She was sentenced to 40 years to life in Winnebago Institute. In July 2025, a plan for her conditional release was accepted by a judge, ordering her to be housed at a group home and supervised till 2058. Geyser was re-arrested on November 24, 2025, after briefly escaping from the group home with an acquaintance.

Morgan Geyser was born on May 16, 2002, and had a lack of empathy since childhood. Her parents said that when Geyser first watched animated film "Bambi", she was not upset by the death of Bambi's mother. Geyser initially showed no signs of violent behaviour and was described as quiet and "creative". Geyser's behaviour led to her becoming friends with a girl named Payton Leutner when they were in fourth grade. Leutner considered Geyser to be her "best friend" and in an interview with 20/20, said that Geyser was "funny" and "great at drawing". Leuther continued to be her friend till sixth grade, when Geyser befriended another classmate; Anissa Weier, who was described by Leuther as "cruel and jealous". This caused Leuther to start considering ending her friendship with Geyser but not going through with it.^[1]

Geyser attended Horning Middle School in Wisconsin and nicknamed Payton as "Bella" due to person with the same name being in their class. Geyser and Anissa lived in the same apartment complex and usually had conversations during school bus rides. In December 2013, Geyser was introduced to "Creepypasta Wiki" by Anissa, which was a fan fiction website about horror genre. The site's most popular fictional character was Slender Man, a tall figure wearing black suit. Morgan Geyser told Leuther stories about Slender Man, but she was scared of them, and this made Geyser to turn more attention to her relationship with Anissa.^[2] Geyser's mother, Angie Geyser, said she was aware of Geyser being intrested in Slenderman but did not see any harm in it.^[3] Father of Geyser, Matthew Geyser, was said to have suffered from schizophrenia when he was underage, being hospitalized four times when he was a teenager.^[4]

Morgan Geyser, after the arrest, claimed that Matthew sexually assaulted her for years prior to the stabbing.^[5] It was said that her childhood was traumatic and that her mother did nothing to stop the abuse.^[6] Psychiatrist Kenneth Robbins speculated that abuse from her father may have caused Geyser to develop post-traumatic stress disorder.^[7] Geyser was reported to have been "obsessed" with Slender Man and genuinely believed that she engaged in telephatic conversations with him. According to Weier, Geyser started planning to murder Payton in January 2014. According to Geyser, Weier played a big role in her plot and "made it seem necessary" to her.^[8]
