NexPhone is a upcoming smartphone, by Nex Computer, announced on 20 January, 2026, and is scheduled for sale on Q3 2026 (delayed to November 2026).[1]

It is a smartphone, which has three operating systems with Android 16, Debian Linux and Windows 11 and can serve as one and only computing device. It can be freely connect it to a monitor via USB-C to get a desktop experience (Android Desktop Mode, Linux Debian, and Windows 11).

History

The NexPhone was first introduced as an ambitious modular concept in September 2012 by Nex Computer (at the time as NexCrea)[2]. It was aimed to act as a single mobile device that would dock into various shells—like a monitor, tablet, or laptop—to switch between a phone and a full desktop PC using Ubuntu for Android. All of your data would be stored on the phone, which would act as the "brains" of the operation no matter which peripherals were using.[2]

The concept would use Canonical’s Ubuntu for Android platform, so that when if connectedNexLaptop or NexMonitor dock on the back of NexPhone, a full Ubuntu Linux desktop operating system would appear, which would led to run any of the thousands of Ubuntu apps optimized to run on Android, including web browsers, productivity software, or even photo or video editing software.[2]
