Draft:Nighttime Visitor

Nighttime Visitor

Nighttime Visitor is an indie game, likely running on the Unity game engine as a Windows-executable program, developed by user Raincoil.

It is free to download from Itch.io.

Plot and Gameplay

It is a horror game in which a crudely drawn sprite-monster, referred to as Alex, chases the player through the halls of a desolate corporate office building. The player starts the game outside two bathrooms at the end of a hallway, and the player will get a call on their phone. This call is from Alex, and he promptly states "Hey, man, I heard you're working late tonight... I'm comin' to get ya..." It is after this that the real game begins, with Alex moving through the halls. The phone is a crucial part of the gameplay, as Alex will call the player to determine their location. Conversely, the player can do the same to Alex to pinpoint his location. Should Alex catch the player, they will promptly be transported to a pocket dimension. This acts as a punishment. The player must pick up the phone on the table in the center to respawn. The phone call is automatic.

Barnard is presumably a coworker, and knocking on his door will cause him to warn the player, "Alex is out. Alex!" The player can also interact with other doors by left-clicking on them. This serves no other purpose than alerting Alex of your position. Various ambiences can also be heard from the other side of many doors.

Development

It was developed by user Raincoil for a game jam. It was uploaded to itch.io on November 3, 2015[1]. They are also the creator of other games such as The Placeholder Pusher and Winter Ritual[2][3].
