Nirvana Chaudhary is a Nepali entrepreneur, business executive, author, and philanthropist. He is one of the Managing Directors of CG Corp Global, a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Nepal. He is also active as the Chairman of Nabil Bank, one of Nepal's most reknowned and largest private commercial banks.[1]
Early life and background
Nirvana Chaudhary was born into the Chaudhary family, one of the most prominent families in Nepal, who are the founders and current leaders of Chaudhary Group, the largest conglomerate in Nepal. He is the son of Binod Chaudhary, Nepal's only billionaire, a businessman, former parliament member, and author.
In his youth Chaudhary wanted to be a musician. However, being the fourth generation in a business family, Chaudhary became involved with the Group at the early age of 19 and later, went on to assume responsibilities as the Managing Director of various verticals under the conglomerate which he is now dedicated towards.
Education
A dedicated scholar, Chaudhary pursued to further his education qualifications at several renowned international institutions. He has graduated from the Global Leadership Program at Harvard Kennedy School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as London Business School.
Business career
CG Corp Global
Chaudhary started his entrepreneurial career when he was 19, with the establishment of CG Finco, a vertical of Chaudhary Group offering financial services. With the furtherment of his career, Chaudhary later went on to become Managing Director of CG Corp Global, where he oversees the group's expansion through multiple ventures such as FMCG, electronics, construction,education, real estate, and hospitality.[2]
Through his influence the company was able to expand its reach and proliferate its name through multiple countries, and expand the Group's global portfolio.
Banking and financial services
Chaudhary was appointed as the Chairman of Nabil Bank, one of the prominent banks of Nepal. Under his leadership the bank has expanded its activities in digital banking, financial technology integration, environmental CSR, social and corporate governance, as well as human capital development.
Aside from domestic involvement, he is also the Chairman at Union Bank, Sri Lanka.
Public service and philanthropy
Nirvana Chaudhary is also the Chairman of Chaudhary Foundation, the philanthropic extension of Chaudhary Group that is actively involved in fulfilling the Group's social responsibility. The Foundation has actively participated in providing disaster relief, education, healthcare, water and sanitation facilities, while also actively contributing to community development.[3]
As the Chairman of Nabil Bank, he is also actively contributing to Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship with the goal to generating and supporting the rise of entrepreneurs and employment in Nepal.
International engagement
At the World Economic Forum, Chaudhary was selected as a Young Global Leader.[4] He is actively involved in international forums and conferences that focus on leadership, sustainability, climate change, and economic development.[5]
Writing and media
Chaudhary has also delved into creative endeavors such as writing. He is the author of several books which include Araaya's Fables, a children's book, and Beyond Wonder Woman, that focuses on women empowerment and gender equality.
Leadership approach
With strong philanthropic roots, Chaudhary is an active advocate of people centric leadership, institutional governance, and promoting continuous learning.[6]
Personal life
In 2007 Chaudhary was married to Ashrayata Karki Chaudhary, the couple now have two children together.[7]
In his personal time, he also enjoys his interests in music, adventure sports, and fitness. He has been on a trek to Everest Base Camp, Mount Kilimanjaro, and been a representative at a national level for squash.
