PLASTIC PRODUCT is a Seoul-based independent label and collective founded by creative director Mincheol Seo. The practice moves across garments, objects, installations, and publications, with a focus on reinterpreting mass-produced everyday objects and challenging automatic perception.

Unlike most contemporary fashion labels, PLASTIC PRODUCT does not prescribe how its work should be understood. Each object, material, or publication is presented as a fact — without interpretation. The meaning that follows is left to whoever encounters it.

Their work does not tell you what to think. It creates the conditions for you to think differently.

Selected Projects

MPa SPEED CTRL Watch

A timepiece designed to interrupt the automatic act of reading time. The hour and minute hands share an identical form, making them indistinguishable at first glance. Rather than confirming the time instantly, the wearer must pause, observe their surroundings, and reconstruct an understanding of the hour through context. The packaging repurposes an industrial shipping case, extending the same logic to the object's presentation.[1]

PLASTICPRODUCT Zine 02: Fridge

An image-based publication containing over 900 photographs of refrigerators. The publication contains no text. Meaning develops through accumulation and repetition rather than explicit narrative, inviting viewers to project their own memories and associations onto the images.[2]

Sound System Tokyo (MPa Sound System: Discs)

An immersive sound installation presented in Tokyo. A circular MPa Disc structure was positioned at the center of the space, with live DJ and artist VQ generating sound through a system connected directly to the structure. Sound traveled outward through a network of connected discs. Cushions were placed along the sound pathways, allowing participants to physically inhabit the system. The boundary between performer and listener gradually dissolved during the event.[3]

Hanging Sound

An object merging a hanger with a speaker, constructed from stainless steel — a material conventionally avoided in acoustic engineering for its distortion properties. Rather than correcting the resulting noise, the project processes the distortion into white noise, treating the material's limitations as its central quality.[4]

Digital Presentation (AW25)

Garments from the AW25 collection were embedded within Google Street View as 360-degree images, placing clothing inside a platform built for geographic navigation rather than aesthetic presentation. Conceived by Mincheol Seo in collaboration with Juyoung Lee.[5]
