reD Architects is a Mumbai-based architecture and interior design practice founded in 2005 by Rajiv Parekh and Ekta Parekh. The studio works across architecture, interiors and urban design, with projects spanning residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional sectors across Mumbai and India.[1][2]
History
reD Architects was established in 2005 as a two-person practice by Rajiv Parekh and Ekta Parekh in Mumbai, and later expanded to a team of over 70 architects and designers.[3][4] The practice designed its own studio in Mumbai by converting a former warehouse, a project that was widely covered in the design press.[3][2][5]
Practice
The studio's work spans architecture, interior design and urban strategies, at scales ranging from product design to large institutional buildings. Collaboration with artists, engineers and craftspeople is integral to its process.[4] The firm has also created public installations, including Powering Passion, an interactive installation based on the Preamble to the Constitution of India presented at the ADFF×STIR event in Mumbai.[6]
Notable works
- The Wavescape — a Hong Kong apartment for an Indian-origin couple, featured in the South China Morning Post and Architectural Digest India.[7][8]
- Sonakshi Sinha's residence — the Mumbai home of actress Sonakshi Sinha.[9][10]
- The Gentle Fold — a residence in Worli, Mumbai.[11]
- reD studio (headquarters) — the firm's own Mumbai studio, converted from a warehouse.[3][5]
Awards and recognition
reD Architects has been named to Architectural Digest Indias AD100 list of the most influential architects and designers in India in 2019,[1] 2020,[12] 2021,[13] 2022,[14] 2023,[15] 2024,[16] 2025[17] and 2026.[18] The firm's work has also been recognised at the ELLE DECO International Design Awards (EDIDA India).[19][20]
