Rentec Direct is an American company founded in 2009 that offers software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications to landlords and property managers.[1][2][3]
The company's headquarters is in Grants Pass, Oregon, located within the Southern Oregon region.[2][3]
History
Nathan Miller founded Rentec Direct in 2009.[2] The company is privately held and self-funded.[2][3]
In 2019, the company moved its headquarters to S.W. I Street in downtown Grants Pass. According to the Grants Pass Daily Courier, its software was used at that time by about 14,000 clients managing 500,000 rental units.[2]
In January 2022, Rentec Direct acquired TrueRent, a property management software provider founded in 2013.[4][5] The company reported at the time that its software was used by more than 25,000 landlords and property managers overseeing approximately 750,000 rental units.[5]
As of 2025, the company had appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the United States for nine consecutive years.[3][6] Since 2016, it has funded an annual technology scholarship program for students, focused as of 2025 on Oregon residents.[7]
Software
The company's software applications provide property accounting, online rent collection, and tenant screening.[2] In June 2023, the company added a tool that uses artificial intelligence to generate rental listing descriptions from property data.[8]
Rentec Direct publishes reports on rent payment trends based on transaction data from its platform. According to a 2025 report based on data from 1.2 million renters, the share of tenants paying rent online rose from 4 percent in 2014 to 51 percent in 2025.[1][9]
