Rob Lawrence is a British-American emergency medical services (EMS) executive, former British Army officer, and industry commentator. He serves as Executive Director of the California Ambulance Association and as Director of Strategic Implementation for Pro EMS and its educational division, Prodigy EMS.[1]

Early life and education

Lawrence was educated in the United Kingdom and is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he trained as an officer in the British Army.[1]

Military career

Lawrence began his military career in the British Army as a Junior Leader in the Junior Leaders Regiment of the Royal Corps of Transport. He initially served as an enlisted soldier and spent the majority of his early career with 17 Port and Maritime Regiment RCT, undertaking deployments including to the Falkland Islands, Belize, and Northern Norway.

After attaining the rank of Corporal, Lawrence passed the Regular Commissions Board and was selected for officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Upon commissioning, he transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps.

As an officer, Lawrence held a range of staff, operational, and command appointments. His assignments included service as an exchange officer with the Canadian Army, where he spent two years at CFB Borden as a company commander within the Canadian Forces Medical Service School.

He retired from the British Army with the rank of Major before transitioning to a career in civilian emergency medical services.[1]

Civilian EMS career in the United Kingdom

Following his military service, Lawrence transitioned into civilian EMS leadership in England. He initially worked as Ambulance Services Commissioner for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire before joining the Ambulance Service. He served as Chief Operating Officer of the East of England Ambulance Service and as Executive Director of Operations and Service Development for the East Anglian Ambulance NHS Trust.[1]

Career in the United States

Lawrence relocated to the United States in 2008 to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Richmond Ambulance Authority in Virginia for approximately ten years, during which the organization received state and national EMS Agency of the Year recognition.[1]

He later served as Chief Operating Officer for PatientCare Logistics Solutions (Paramedics Plus) in Alameda County, California.[1]

Lawrence currently serves as Director of Strategic Implementation for Pro EMS and Prodigy EMS in Cambridge, Massachusetts.[1] and also as the Executive Director of the California Ambulance Association.

Leadership and affiliations

Lawrence has held leadership roles in a number of EMS organizations, including President of the Academy of International Mobile Healthcare Integration (AIMHI) and Executive Director of the California Ambulance Association.[2]

Personal life

Lawrence is an avid hiker and operates the YouTube channel UKROBL Hikes and Walks.[9]
